Homesteading with the Juan de Jesus Vigil Family
In 1860 Juan de Jesus Vigil and his wife Maria Romano Bustos Vigil came to southern Colorado with 16 children. They homesteaded near the base of the Spanish Peaks at a settlement called Trujillo Creek. As their sons became 21 they also were granted homesteads.
As a Personal Historian I have interviewed over 50 descendants of this interesting early Colorado family.
